Hello and welcome to my new Blanket Pattern, just in time for the summer season!

You may recognise parts of the pattern as being the Winter Season Blanket, my Christmas pattern from five years ago. And indeed this new pattern is the sister of the original! I always wanted to make this blanket again, in a whole different colour scheme, and it seemed obvious to go for a summery look as the opposite of winter.

I decided to make some changes to the original pattern for this new version. For example, the large Heart square became the large Flower square, and the Candy Cane border became a soft green block stitch border for the summer theme.
My colour inspiration came from a ball I had of the beautiful Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze Prints DK, that gorgeous squishy yarn which has become a firm favourite. It’s a soft mauve/pink/lavender blue variegated mix – Marloes Sands, and it reminded me of the pretty petals of lilacs and hydrangeas.
The whole thing came together quite easily, with the pattern writing being done while I was crocheting the blanket, and all in all it was a very enjoyable experience.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might also have read that all the proceeds from the sale of the pattern will be going to the MS Society (Multiple Sclerosis) via my son’s fund-raising – he’s running the Edinburgh Marathon on May 25th.
So, I’m delighted to be publishing the pattern today, May 8th and will donate the money raised on Friday May 23rd.

Now let’s get down to details.
You will find the pattern in my Etsy and Ravelry shops. What’s more, you will also get it at HALF PRICE until May 23rd!
So instead of £5.90, it’s only £3.01 (don’t ask me why there is a random penny – must be an Etsy quirk!)
That’s quite a bargain, considering you get 27 pages, 170 photos and nine video tutorials, all for the price of a coffee!
What’s more, the YARN PACKS, which will be on sale on the
WOOL WAREHOUSE website, have a good discount on them too, until the end of May, so it’s a win all round.
One thing to note, the pattern is also for sale on Wool Warehouse, but it’s at the full price there, so toddle on over to Etsy or Ravelry if you want the bargain.
And like I said, all the money I make from the sale of the pattern in both my Etsy and Ravelry shops will be donated to Nick for the MS Society.
I’m hoping that the discounted price will mean that you will buy the pattern, even if you aren’t needing a new crochet pattern right now, purely for the donation to a good cause. Some lovely people have already pledged to buy more than one pattern, even though they only need one of course. It’s just a way of donating more to the MS Society to help their research into finding a cure for this nasty disease.
My nephew John was diagnosed with MS when he was just twelve years old, one of the youngest victims of the disease in the country. He’s now 29, and thanks to groundbreaking experimental treatment a few years ago, continues to live a healthy and active life.
In fact, John ran in the London Marathon five years ago, as a youth ambassador for MS. At that time, I had just completed the pattern for the Beach Walk Blanket and I donated the proceeds of that pattern to John’s fund-raising, just like I’m doing now. We (meaning you, the amazing crochet community) raised just short of £1000 from that pattern.
So, what else have I got to say? The video tutorials are in the Summer Season Blanket Playlist on my You Tube channel .
The Yarn List includes Stylecraft Special DK, Yarnsmiths Create DK, and of course the Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze Prints DK. There are 11 balls used in total.
The hook size is 4mm, and the pattern is suitable for CONFIDENT BEGINNERS>
And with that, I’ll sign off.
Please consider purchasing a copy of the Summer Season pattern. Both Nick and myself will be very grateful.
Happy crocheting, my yarny people,
